During the first weekend of every March, the medieval town of Sarlat turns into a huge celebration of the bird which has grown to become its mascot – …the Perigord Goose. Fest’oie (festival of the goose) takes place in the heart of this charming town at Place de la Liberté where the hundreds of locals and tourists that ‘flock’ here are treated to a weekend of free activities such as goose plume calligraphy, an array of children’s goose themed games plus live music, some cookery demonstrations and a large, traditional market where you can have a ‘gander’ at the many goose products on offer.

The weekend is topped off with a hugely popular midday feast at the Cultural Centre where 15 different goose specialities are showcased to over 800 guests. Just an hour’s drive away from HPB’s Constant, this beautiful town really is a must see!
