The Blandys played a leading role in the development of Madeira wine 200 years ago. The Blandy's Wine Lodge, located in Funchal, is still owned by the family of the original founders and maintains their tradition which dates back to 1811. The Wine Lodge now provides tours and offers visitors the opportunity to witness the making of Madeira wine first hand. The tours walk you through the wine making process while explaining the the 200 years of history as well as the development and evolution over the years. The tours conclude with a tasting session so you can sample the different varieties.
