Lucker Hall was a listed mansion in the heart of the Northumberland countryside. Following a devastating fire, the site was derelict for 20 years. Until recently!
Work on the Lucker Hall project began in 2014, creating a stylish holiday complex that is located just a stone's throw from the famous Northumberland Coast AONB. This beautiful location now boasts 44 modern holiday units in the peaceful village of Lucker and maintains the listed walls of the walled garden and its dovecote – the only survivors of the fire.
The original building dated from the 19th century and was once a part of the Duke of Northumberland's estates. June 2016 saw the official opening of the site by the Duke himself. The day was a success; around 180 guests turned up for the event and speeches, there was the unveiling of a commemorative plaque and then guests were invited to take a good look around.
The work team were still putting the final touches in place, but some of the completed areas were open to view as were the furnished properties. Visitors also enjoyed a look at the grounds and walled garden.
Lucker welcomes its first holidaying guests in July 2016, but bookings are already open.
The completed complex now has a great range of facilities such as a swimming pool and games room, and a new village shop will benefit Lucker Hall residents as well as those of the surrounding village. It's hoped that the development will help boost the local economy and bring more visitors to this beautiful area.
