The Pembrokeshire coast is stunning, surrounded by incredible scenery and was the first national park to be designated for its appearance alone.
It is little wonder that many production crews over the years have chosen this exquisite stretch of coastline for filming locations. A whole host of famous actors have passed through, and the area has seen its fair share of memorable scenes. Just a few of the biggest productions are listed below.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (2010)
Perhaps one of the most famous films to be shot in Pembrokeshire was the final instalment of the multi-million pound Harry Potter franchise. Shell Cottage was a pretty little house constructed specifically for the job in 2009. One of the final scenes in the first film sees Harry, Ron and Hermione escape to the cottage, and the second film kicks off from the same location. The cottage was constructed on the beach of Freshwater West and scenes took place in the sand dunes around it during 2009.

Robin Hood (2010)
Strangely enough, it wasn't long after filming concluded for Harry Potter that Director Ridley Scott arrived with Russel Crowe and a whole army of actors to film a battle sequence for the French invasion scene in Robin Hood.

I Capture the Castle (2003)
Based on the novel of the same name by Dodie Smith, I capture the castle takes place in a crumbling English castle in the 1930s. A number of different locations were used for the castle and grounds during filming, the main one being Manorbier Castle in Pembrokeshire. Romola Garai and Bill Nighy spent a lot of time filming at this stunning Norman castle, which is located near the lovely seaside fishing village of Tenby. It's a large complex and well worth a visit!
Snow White and the Huntsman (2012)
Another beach that has been chosen in recent years for the location of an epic battle scene is Marloes Sands. This picturesque beach, nestled into a gently curving bay, is protected by the National Trust and at low tide stretches in a large, long expanse of golden sand. The space was perfect for a horse-back battle sequence, and the far-reaching views and interesting rock formations made it an ideal setting for this re-imagined fairytale starring Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth
Me Before You (2016)
The coastline is still as popular as ever. Most recently, Me Before You is a 2016 film based on Jojo Moyes' novel and is due to be released in cinemas in the summer. The stars Emilia Clarke (of Game of Thrones) and Sam Clafin (of The Hunger Games) were filming throughout the historic town of Pembroke earlier in 2015. The town has a number of locations that lend themselves well to film production, including the magnificent medieval castle which you can catch a glimpse of in the very opening shot of the film's trailer.
