Get ready for a new era at the Ivy House Hotel!
There’s a great new team in place to run the Ivy House restaurant on a permanent basis. As of January, George and Meera Cherian took on the management of Ivy House’s onsite eatery and are already flourishing there. We’re really excited to see how they get on.
Meera and George already own and manage the hugely-praised Honest Lawyer restaurant in Cockermouth.
You can take a look at the website here.
It’s a fantastic establishment just over 15 minutes away from Braithwaite Court, and easy enough to get to if you fancy a comparison meal there! The Honest Lawyer is located right on the river in the centre of Cockermouth in a Grade II listed building that was originally the town’s old courthouse cells. Some beautiful original building features make it a really unique dining experience and there is something on the menu for everyone. The pair pride themselves on creating delicious dishes that are a fun twist on traditional British cuisine.
Now, having bought their expertise to our little Cumbrian hotel, we’re confident they’re going to make just as much of a success out of their time at Ivy House. We’ll be catching up with them again once they’ve settled in to see how they’re getting on!
French duo lend a helping hand over the winter period
Just before George and Meera took the helm, the Ivy House’s à-la-carte restaurant received a little helping hand from overseas…
Nicolas Fornaro, popular chef at Le Manoir du Hilguy, our Breton château, along with waiter Thibault Le Paih recently offered their services here in the Lake District to help us out over a busy winter period.
Over in Brittany, Nicolas produces gorgeous meals at the Bistro, Hilguy’s onsite restaurant, and Thibault is always a hit with visitors. We were delighted to have them come across to Cumbria at the end of last year to give us a helping hand. We knew they would prove just as popular here in our Lake District hotel.
“I think it’s done us both the world of good,” Thibault said of the pair’s Lakeland adventure. “And we loved the area – the Lakes and the Fells are just so beautiful! We brought our own little touches and style to the dishes we served – it always seems to go down well at the Bistro, but it’s bound to be a bit different in the UK. Still, all the comments we had back were positive.”
“Thibault was a huge help,” added Nicolas. “He is young, and fairly new to the Bistro – but he’s really enthusiastic, and loves meeting new people. A real asset, front of house.”
The guests at Ivy House loved having Thibault and Nicolas around, the different style of cooking mixed things up a little and it’s with a lot of excitement that we are embarking on this new era with a fresh pair of enthusiastic managers. Good luck to George and Meera for their coming reign at Ivy House!
