Algarve
The Algarve is a stunning area and there is a range of excursions that might spark your interest when you visit Rocha Brava. The exciting jeep safari will take you on a tour of your surroundings, venturing off the beaten track for a unique view of some of the lesser visited areas. Along the way your guide will teach you a about the natural area and point out the interesting flora and fauna, stopping at all the best spots.
If it's birds you're into, then the excursion to Lagoa dos Salgados will be the one for you. There are some fantastic species to be spotted in this picturesque freshwater lagoon. Simon Wates is an experienced guide and knows just where to see the flamingos, spoonbills, waders and stilts. It's a beautiful environment.
The range of excursions varies depending on the site you're staying at, but there is always plenty to see.
The Isle of Anglesey
We all know how important the red squirrel conservation is becoming and at Henllys, in north-west Wales, these stunning creatures are flourishing wonderfully.
Having been reintroduced on to the Isle of Anglesey, the woods around Henllys are the ideal habitat for them and the conservation efforts in the area are very passionate. If you're interested in learning more about them and seeing some of these elegant little critters for yourself then all you need to do is join the guided woodland walk with Henllys woodsman David Morrison. He's a brilliant guide and will show you what's what before giving a talk on the red squirrels of Anglesey.
The Dordogne
Over in the Dordogne you can treat yourself to a bird watching tour from Constant. David Simpson, the author of Birding Dordogne, makes a fantastic tour guide for your day of exploring.
David has called the Dordogne home for more than 10 years and knows all the best spots for beautiful butterflies, dragonflies, rare flowers and, of course, the stunning birdlife. On your walk through a variety of incredible habitat keep your eyes and ears open for eagles, buzzards, black woodpeckers, egrets and kites among many others.
