Derwentwater is nestled in the mouth of the Borrowdale valley and is one of the most picturesque of all the National Park's waters. Why not take part in a fun and leisurely half day canoe session with Keswick Canoe & Bushcraft? You'll be taught the basic canoeing and paddling techniques and then journey into the quiet bays around Derwentwater's shore, visiting the various islands as you go. Keep your eyes open for some of the local wildlife and take the opportunity to simply stop and enjoy breathtaking scenery.
This is a great day out for families and groups, whether you've tried the sport before or are completely new to it. Canoeing is a fantastic way to discover the hidden places and wildlife of Derwentwater and you will hear about the history and geology that has helped shape the Lake District.
Take part in one of the bushcraft sessions and spend the day learning basic bushcraft skills, as well as developing an understanding of the natural environment. You will be able to get hands on, practicing skills such as tree and plant identification, wood collection and preparation, building shelters and of course fire lighting, whilst under the experienced supervision of one of the instructors.
There are different types and lengths of courses on offer, so take a look at the Canoe and Bushcraft website for more information.
