From Henllys you overlook the narrow stretch of tidal water, the Menai Strait, which separates the Isle of Anglesey from the mainland. This narrow channel, though picturesque is more dangerous than it looks with changeable currents throughout as well as large rocks and and tiny islands, such as Puffin Island, to try to navigate.
That being said, the Menai Strait is such an impressive and beautiful channel of water, it's certainly worth discovering it for yourself from the safety of a boat. If you're up for a little bit of exhilaration, you are in luck! Visitors to Henllys are being offered an exclusive RIB ride on the Menai Strait that is sure to leave you impressed. A RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) is lightweight but fast and will take you on an hour and a half journey along the channel, under both the bridges that cross it, and to the lovely Puffin Island.
Along the way you will be rewarded with a fantastic, unique view of the imposing Beaumaris Castle, where it sits perched above the water. As you head towards Puffin Island you'll hopefully see the large number of cormorants that live there, as well as a colony of grey seals and, of course, the famous puffins! Hear about the history and wildlife around this interesting stretch of water and enjoy a fun day out.
The excursion is taking place on the 29th March, and is exclusive to you! Don't miss out, because places are filling up fast. And if you do get involved, we would love to see how you got on! Why not take some photos and pop them up on our facebook page.
If you're not in time for this excursion, or fancy discovering the area at a later date, this is a great one for all times of the year. Take a look at the RIB Ride website for information about all the different excursions on offer.
