One month to go till Christmas and we're all starting to feel it in the air… So how will you be spending the holidays? Chatsworth House has always made Christmas a spectacular affair. If you're up in the Peak District during November or December, why not check it out?
Chatsworth House has long been one of grandeur and celebration, having been home to the Cavendish family since the mid 16th century, and constantly filled with guests and cheer.
Christmas is always a spectacular occasion in such a grand estate, with so much to see and do throughout November and December for all ages.
This year Mr. Toad comes to Chatsworth as the stunning country estate adopts this year's The Wind in the Willows theme over its festive season. The interiors feature scenes and characters from Kenneth Grahame's classic children's novel; the grand rooms have a feel of Toad Hall about them, decked out in lights, decorations and displays for an atmospheric Christmassy day out.
Things will stay festive at Chatsworth from early November all the way through to early January. You can even book an evening tour to experience the magic of the mansion house, which will be opening late on certain Thursdays and Fridays just for this purpose. Throughout the festive season, entry will be timed so do book in advance for any of the events and activities you are interested in. Visit the website here www.chatsworth.org for more information and bookings.
There is an array of special events to enjoy such as the Christmas market which is running up until the last weekend of November. Browse a fantastic selection of treats, gifts, food and drink, crafts and goodies to live seasonal music out in Chatsworth's grounds.
There are nativities in the farmyard for little ones, a Christmas craft marquee and storytelling. Floral demonstrations and a special masquerade ball are proving very popular, with tickets selling fast. Not to mention a number of already fully booked events. So if you're interested in a Christmas with a little extra sparkle, it is certainly worth taking a look at the website to secure your place. The shops and courtyard will be selling a delightful range of Christmas gifts and the Estate Farm Shop and café will have a great selection of foody treats on offer. Remember Chatsworth is closed on the 24th, 25th, 26th December and the 1st January.
