The Cathedral of Florence, known world wide as Il Duomo, but more correctly the Santa Maria del Fiore, is the city's most iconic landmark. If you'd rather be outside why not spend the day at the Boboli Gardens? They were created by the Medici family in the 16th century and are located behind the Pitti Palace. The beautiful gardens are home to a large number of statues and fountains.
