The Theatre by the Lake is located on the shores of Derwentwater in Cumbria. It is a star attraction in the Lake District, earning itself a good reputation and has staged more than 100 plays since it first opened in 1999. The theatre hosts a whole range of different events and productions throughout the year including drama dance, music and talks.
Very close to the pretty village of Braithwaite, the Theatre is a constant favourite with the guests staying at the two accommodation properties, Braithwaite Court and the Ivy House hotel. At just a 10 minute drive away from the theatre, those staying in Braithwaite often stop in at the town of Keswick for an evening meal before making their way to the theatre to enjoy a show.
Manager of the holiday properties Jim Downie (pictured below) is an ambassador for the theatre and this means his guests get special privileges when it comes to buying tickets. The Theatre's Ambassador Scheme is a way for the theatre to get its name out there a little more while Jim gets to offer his guests £3 off tickets for almost all of the theatre's events. This equates to a 30% discount on some of the shows. This year Jim once again won the Theatre by the Lake's annual Ambassador Scheme Competition. He has achieved the highest ticket sales for performances this year, and continues to be the long standing winner. Guests can make use of his discount through vouchers or using an online code, both of which can be supplied by Jim.
The Theatre by the Lake has a 400-seat Main House stage and a 100-seat Studio. They perform eight or nine of their own productions per year and if you're staying at Braithwaite, it is certainly worth setting aside a theatre evening to enjoy one of the productions.
