Alfaix gardens
We’re so proud of our gardens here at Alfaix that we just can’t wait to share them with you. Down in Andalusia in southern Spain the climate allows for exquisite Mediterranean fauna, such as cacti and evergreens, eucalyptus, rock roses and a variety of vascular plants that have adapted to survive long, hot summers. The gardens of Alfaix are beautifully tended to showcase a wide range of species.
Here in Alfaix the site was designed by an award-winning local architect to resemble a traditional Andalusian village with Moorish-inspired whitewashed villas and apartments. They are surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds that are linked by walkways and bordered by drystone walls. So if you did want to escape into a little haven of Moorish beauty, you needn’t look too far.
Thanks to a hard-working team of gardeners, the gardens of Alfaix are always looking their best. Not only do they provide a peaceful escape for visitors, but they also give you a little insight into the beauty of places like the Alhambra. Alfaix provides a true taste of the traditional Andalusian ambience, right down to the smallest detail… We even have our own lion fountain to rival the Alhambra’s Court of the Lions!
Alhambra Palace
If you decide to take a trip down in southern Spain, make sure to pay a visit to the Alhambra Palace. The large Moorish palace is one of the most famous and incredible sites in Spain. Elegant rooms and halls, intricately designed with instantly recognisable patterns and tiles, are interlinked by picturesque courtyards and the whole palace is surrounded by breath-taking gardens.
You can easily spend a whole day here meandering around its splendour, admiring everything from the smallest architectural details, to perfectly sculpted vistas, to the far-reaching views of the surrounding Granada countryside.
If you follow the visitor route you will explore the palace before coming to the gardens. Alternatively you can buy just a garden ticket if it’s more your thing to be outdoors (though I would recommend the whole experience!). It’s a good idea to purchase tickets in advance as the Alhambra limits the number of visitors it allows per day, and there are certain time slots to stick to.
You can find all the tickets on the website here. It’s roughly 2 hours away from Alfaix.
