The Welsh Wildlife Centre is situated on the banks of the River Teifi, between Cardigan and Cilgerran where it overlooks the Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve. It is one of the best wetland reserves in Wales and is one of the few places in the UK that you can get up close and personal with the resident water buffalo! The reserve is 264 acres of woods, river banks, reedbanks and hedgerows, creating brilliant natural habitats for mammals and birds. Look out for reed warblers, marsh harriers, kingfishers, red kites and sika deer.
The Wildlife Centre was first built in 1993 when it received an award for its beautiful glass and wood architectural design. The spectacular open glass façade allows views out to the reserve below and a panorama of the Teifi River and the close town of Cardigan. Inside are great facilities, a shop and the lovely Glasshouse Café. The Café is on the top floor, so great views accompany your mealtime. It offers a range of meals and snacks with the menu using seasonal ingredients and fresh produce to create the homemade dishes.
