The Cathedral of Florence, known world wide as Il Duomo, but more correctly the Santa Maria del Fiore, is the city's most iconic landmark. Designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, and taking 140 years to complete, the cathedral is one of the top places to visit in the whole of Italy. Climb the 463 steps to the top and experience breathtaking views.
If you'd rather be outside why not spend the day at the Boboli Gardens? They were created by the Medici family in the 16th century and are located behind the Pitti Palace. The beautiful gardens are home to a large number of statues and fountains.
