Lakeland hotel reopens

Posted by Katy Peck on 24 May 2021

Our boutique hotel, in the picturesque village of Braithwaite, has finally opened its doors.

The Ivy House Hotel welcomed its first excited guests on Monday 17th May 2020. Having undergone a recent makeover, this charming country retreat offers thirteen tastefully furnished bedrooms, an inviting reception area, comfortable sitting room and superb restaurant, which serves a delicious menu of fusion food.

Guests are also welcome to use the facilities at nearby Braithwaite Court, which include its own clubhouse with a games room, heated indoor pool, steam room and exercise room… the perfect place to relax after a long day exploring the spectacular Lake District!

Situated in the middle of the village amidst stunning countryside, with two delightful pubs – one within sight of the hotel – and a quaint village shop, the Ivy House Hotel is the perfect base for exploring the beauty of the Lake District and its famous National Park. The charming towns of Cockermouth and Keswick are only a short drive away, with plenty of opportunities for days out that the whole family will enjoy. Why not spend an afternoon catching a show at Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake, or head to Cockermouth to a brewery tour at Jennings Brewery?

For those of you who enjoy the great outdoors, no visit to the Lakes would be complete without some spectacular walks. Luckily, you have plenty to choose from! You will be pleased to find numerous beautiful routes right on Ivy House’s doorstep, taking you through some of the Lake District’s most wonderful landscapes. Simply lace up your walking boots and see what you can discover! Like much of the Lake District, there are plenty of marked paths to explore and, as always, our terrific team will be glad to point you in the right direction.

If you’re willing to travel a little further, the popular walk around Derwentwater starts from Keswick, only a short journey by car, and makes for a lovely day out. Meanwhile, holidaymakers who aren't opposed to some climbing might want to tackle the lofty heights of Scafell and Skiddaw Pikes, which are are also within easy reach. For a good idea of where to start, make sure to take a look at our list of five mountain walks for beginners.
