Between the 7th and 13th December Wallace & Gromit's BIG Bake returns to help raise money for Wallace & Gromit's Children's Charity, which supports children in hospitals and hospices across the UK. Homepride are the main sponsors this year and they are encouraging their loyal fans to get involved.

Wallace & Gromit's Children's Charity is a national charity that supports hundreds of projects at hospitals throughout the UK, helping to provide life-saving medical equipment, free family accommodation, therapy programmes, facilities and care. The charity was set up over a decade ago and Wallace & Gromit's BIG Bake returns this year as a way for people to raise money at home, school or in the work place for this worth while cause. There are all sorts of resources on the website www.bigbake.org where you can send off for a fundraising pack or download various bits and bobs, or check out recipes from this year's star bakers: royal baker Fiona Cairns, Kate Garraway and Great British Bake Off 2014 contestant Iain Watters.

One of Iain Watters' recipes for the BIG Bake is a delicious Wensleydale soda bread, which you can see here, and what better place to grab the key ingredient than the birth place of this creamy cheese?

Up in the Yorkshire Dales Wallace & Gromit are two stars of the Wensleydale Creamery, the home of this famous cheese. Known for their love of this particular product, Wallace & Gromit merchandise is sold in the gift shop of the Creamery visitor centre, along with all kinds of Wensleydale varieties.

While staying at Lodge Yard, why not go along and grab yourself some cheese to try this recipe for yourself?

Iain Watters is really pleased to be a part of things this year:

“I’m proud to support this year’s BIG Bake and help raise dough for Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Charity. I love baking with my young niece so it’s great to be helping raise money to support sick children and their families all over the country. You don’t need to be a star baker; every penny raised by your cupcakes, breads and brownies will help make a real difference.”

It would be fantastic for as many people as possible to take part in the BIG Bake, so we can all continue to raise money in support of this excellent charity and their work for local and regional children's hospitals and hospices.

Get your chefs hats on and get creative. Keep an eye on the Wallace & Gromit’s Children’s Charity’s Facebook page > facebook.com/WallaceAndGromitsCC for competition news, and don’t forget to share pictures of your bakes with them – and us! facebook.com/HPBLodgeYard. We'd love to see photos of all that you've done.

We thought we'd get things started with homemade Guinness Loaf Cake and a variety of Wensleydales... What will you do?
